Hank Still Looking for #30
The Rangers came out strong and dominated the first 5 minutes of the game, and Lundqvist made some huge saves early on, but at the end of the night, the Rangers left with only 1 pt and Henrik still looking to secure his 30 win season for the 3rd consecutive year.
The good news around the league last night was that both Boston (in OT as well) and Philadelphia lost, keeping the threat from behind, still behind.
The Rangers will get their shot at redemption against the Islanders on Long Island this Thursday, which will most likely have DiPietro back in net for the Isles. What could have been and should have been a huge turning point in the game last night, was when Islanders netminder Wade Dubielewicz got hurt and could hardly stand up but had to remain in net, had the Rangers taken advantage of that opportunity we might be looking at a totally different situation here.
The game did go to a shootout, but Dawes was the only Ranger to get into the opposing net, leaving the workload on Henrik's shoulders. In a way I was kind of hoping that as the shootout progressed, Renney would send Malik in for the shootout, remembering this event:
