Wedding Singer Cast and Producer Raise $7000 for Tornado Victims

The cast of The Wedding Singer raised $3,500 for local tornado victims during its Memphis run February 12-17. NETworks, the touring company that presented The Wedding Singer, announced that it will be matching the donations raised by the cast in Memphis, bringing the total amount of relief assistance reaching tornado victims to $7,000. The local Red Cross was the recipient of these funds.

After learning of the deadly tornadoes that ravaged the mid-South on Feb. 5, the cast of The Wedding Singer became interested in finding a way to aid relief efforts. The cast accepted donations for the American Red Cross after each of its eight Memphis performances.

After each performance, lead cast member Merritt David Janes made a short announcement on the relief efforts, and other members of the cast accepted donations from the audience. The Wedding Singer signed posters were given to those who donated $30 or more.
